Meeting of department: School of Political & Social Sciences

An online meeting of departments was organised by the School of Political & Social Sciences at Western Caspian University.

Teachers and students at the School of Political and Social Sciences at WCU participated in an international event called "The Nuclear Future: An Agenda for Disarmament?" organised by the center of thought, STEAR.

The event was attended by Ambassador Dr. Stephen Clement (Permanent Representative of the European Union to the United Nations in Vienna and the Special Adviser for the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) at the European External Action Service (EEAS) and Professor Ramesh Thakur (Honorary Professor at the Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University, Senior Research Fellow, collaborator of Toda Peace Institute & Australian Institute of International Affairs).

The speakers deliberated alternative ambitions to prevent nuclear proliferation, its impact on nuclear ambitions in Europe-Asia relations and how nuclear use will impact future generations. They shared personal experiences. Ambassador Clement discussed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (also known as the Iran Nuclear Agreement) and Professor Thakur discussed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
