Academic Integrity  

The code of ethics of students studying at Western Caspian University regulates the norms and principles of ethical behavior, rights and duties, and responsibilities of students studying at Western Caspian University. 

The Students, Faculty, Librarians, Staff and Administration of Western Caspian University believe that academic integrity is central to the University's mission and are committed to promoting high standards of academic integrity. Academic integrity supports the equity in education, the development and dissemination of knowledge, and the mutual respect that our society values and fosters. To continue this commitment, the Code of Academic Integrity of the Western Caspian University was created.  

Article I: The Authority of the Code of Academic Integrity  

Section 1: Application of the Code of Academic Integrity  

The Code of Academic Integrity applies to all students studying within the  Western Caspian University. 

Section 2: Precedence of the Code of Academic Integrity  

This Code takes precedent over all other academic integrity policies of Western Caspian University. This Code applies to reports of academic integrity violations that are received by the University on or after the effective date of this Code, regardless of when the alleged violation occurred. 

Where the date of the reported violation precedes the effective date of this Code, the definitions of academic integrity violations in existence at the time of the alleged incident will be used, except where use of such definition would be contrary to law. The remainder of this Code, however, including the procedures, will be used to resolve all reports of academic integrity violations subject to this Code made on or after the effective date of the Code, regardless of when the alleged incident occurred. 

 

Article II: Basic Considerations  

Students are responsible for the honesty and integrity of their own academic work, which may also include their applications for admission, in addition to any group or collaborative academic work attributed to them that is submitted for academic evaluation or credit in an academic course, program, or credential. Behavior not addressed by this Code may be addressed by another policy at the University. 

Common examples of academic integrity violations include, but are not limited to: 

Cheating: Using or attempting to use unauthorized materials, information, or teaching aids in any academic exercise; unauthorized collaboration in any academic exercise; submitting pre-prepared work to an in-class exam without permission; making a copy of another student's exam; pass off material created by another as your own (including contract or paid spoofing); violation of the rules governing the conduct of examinations; violation of any rules regarding the academic integrity of the course or program. 

Fabrication: Falsifying any information, data or quotation in an academic exercise. 

Plagiarism: using someone else's work without giving them proper credit. In academic writing, plagiarizing involves using words, ideas, or information from a source without citing it correctly. 

Falsification of academic documents. This includes falsifying, altering, concealing material information, making false statements, or misrepresenting academic documents, including but not limited to academic documents, transcripts, letters of recommendation, admission applications, or related documents. 

Article III: Duties of Students 

Following the regulations of the university, the rector's orders and this Code on education during his studies 

Being honest with students and university staff 

Not to allow disciplinary, administrative and criminal responsibility, to immediately give appropriate instructions to the persons who commit such actions; 

Protect the property of the university and take appropriate responsibility for its damage and loss; 

Report any problems or rights to the directory; 

Coming to classes on time and leaving classes on time based on the established schedule; 

Not to allow actions that may damage the reputation of the university, that are against the moral values of the society; 

Constantly improve their knowledge, demonstrate practical skills and learn modern research methods in their chosen specialty (on certificate); 

Fulfill the requirements of the educational plans for the specialty and participate in all the events of the educational programs provided for in the educational plan; 

Following the rules of discipline in the university and in public places where the university is represented. 

 

Article IV: Consequences of disciplinary violation of students 

  1. Warning  

  1. Reprimand 

  1. Severe reprimand; 

  1. Suspension from the educational process for one or more semesters, 

(as well as expulsion from the university) 

Article V: Rights and duties of students 

University students have equal rights; 

Quality education according to state education standards; 

Free choice of subjects, amount of credits per semester, educators and tutors according to the curriculum; 

Using the existing infrastructure of the university (teaching-production, scientific research, information, cultural-household, sports, health centers, libraries, etc.) 

Engage in scientific research activities 

Being  provided with safe and harmless educational conditions for health; 

Being  protected from actions that humiliate human dignity and honor, against human rights; 

Actively participation  in the organization and management of the educational process, 

Freely expression one's thoughts and opinions; 

To participate in the scientific, public, social and cultural life of the educational institution, in the creation of scientific societies, associations, unions and other organizations, as well as to become members of such organizations at the national and international level; 

to participate in scientific-practical conferences, seminars, meetings and meetings, as well as other events related to educational life;
