A commemorative event devoted to the January 20 tragedy was held at the Western Caspian University
It was noted that on the night of January 19-20, 1990, by order of the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev, Soviet troops entered Baku and several regions of Azerbaijan, the civilians were massacred by heavy machinery and various types of weapons.
Speakers at the event stated that this day is a page of both tragedy and heroism in our modern history, noting that the legal assessment of the tragedy was given by National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
The event continued with a literary and artistic composition prepared by the student clubs of the university.
The participants of the event also viewed the exhibition of drawings and handicrafts called "The beginning day of the heroic page" prepared by the students of the design faculty.
