Perhaps after graduating from the university some people repeat this sentence and critique themselves for failing to properly evaluate the student's time. Western Caspian University offers a wide range of opportunities for its students in this direction. The university has created the strategy on "Student's Life" that combines present and futures opportunities. The main purpose of these goals is to ensure that the student lives in an exciting, bright and full life.

Youth policy is an integral part of our university's unified development program. That's why the effective organization of students' leisure time is at the center of attention at Western Caspian University. Our University provides all the conditions for the efficient use of leisure time by students and supports the students' involvement in governance, the comprehensive protection of their rights and interests and the development of organizational, entrepreneurial and creative skills.

Students of Western Caspian University are active not only in their academic activities, but also in different social activities. Among the priorities of the University is interest of students in new technologies and start-up projects. As a result there is increased start-up and technology-related events.  The university provides comprehensive support for students to participate in such competitions. Western Caspian University is successfully operated following student's organizations and clubs. Activities and success of students in these organizations are reflected in the Azerbaijani media.

Mountaineering Club

The Mountaineering Club of the Western Caspian University, which has been operating since 2005 and which is well-known for organizing many expeditions and competitions both inside and outside the country, is accepting new members. Our students who want to become members of the club can express their reasons for wanting to become members of the club in a few sentences and send their applications to administration_iro@wcu.edu.az

The Mountaineering Club was established in 2005. Expeditions to various remote regions and high peaks of Azerbaijan were organized by the club. Students of our university actively participated in these expeditions. Every year, on the occasion of the birthday of national leader Heydar Aliyev, marches are organized to the summit named after Heydar Aliyev, located in the Gizilgaya range. Also, the peaks of the Greater Caucasus Mountains  - Shahdag, Tufandag, Bazarduzu, etc. have been conquered.

Western Caspian University Students Society

We call ourselves the Western Caspian University Student Society because we are a large family at our University. As students, we organize this community for students.

OUR AIM:

To represent and protect the interests of students, provide their active participation in public, political, cultural, social, and economic lives within the framework of implementing the State Youth Policy.

OUR VALUES:

  • We care:

Our priorities are to provide students’ rights and to analyze what students’ desires are. Providing feedback and suggestion from students is necessary to ensure them with everything what is needed.

  • We take actions:

All needs or suggestions do not remain on talks or paper. Our team is always to ready to take effective actions such as solutions of social problems.

  • We develop:

We provide productive use of leisure time for students. We do promote intellectual and social growth among students. Our society ensures participation of talented and creative students in contests, competitions, exhibitions and festivals held within and outside the country. We implement preventive events against drug addiction, alcoholism, crime, immorality and other adverse trends among students.

A number of clubs and working groups are operating in the Western Caspian University Student Society, along with the Student Scientific Society. There are currently about 800 members of the Western Caspian University Student Society.

Student's Scientific Organization

OUR AIM:

The Student Scientific Society of Western Caspian University is an organization is established to expose and develop students' interest in science, formulate valuable skills for a future professional career.

OUR ACTIVITIES:

  • We create student research groups. In addition, any student can join these groups at any time;
  • Students can participate in student conferences and Olympiads, and also organizes events to popularize science;
  • We ensure publication of students' theses in collections;
  • Our society organizes talks on scientific subjects regularly;
  • We visit to places of scientific interest, including museums and centers about science.

Student Volunteer Association

Student Volunteer Union was established at Western Caspian University in 2016. The aim of the association is to make arrange voluntary internships so that stuents can gain experience in the relevant field.

The Union carries out tasks such as conducting leisure time activities for Western Caspian University students and improving their scientific and practical skills. The experience gained by volunteer students during makes it easier for them to find a job after graduation.

 The purpose of the Union is to:

  • Organize students' leisure time.
  • Provide students with scientific-practical skills and application.
  • Integrate and strengthen the student's identity as an individual.

Diplomats Club

OUR AIM:

Diplomacy Club is organized in order to improve the development of the next generation of diplomats, global citizens and leaders. This club intends to unite around intellectual students and alumni of Western Caspian University, reflecting the interests of society in accordance with modern views, values, and the characteristics of international relations.

OUR ACTIVITIES:

  • We create opportunities for students interested in careers in diplomacy;
  • Students are informed with the history of ancient and modern diplomacy, its stages of development;
  • We provide open forum and conferences for discussion of international relations, global peace and security, human action and international diplomacy;
  • We try to make connections between our club and national / international organizations.

Debate Club

OUR AIM:

The Debate Club is brings together those students who are interested in discussions, research and polemics. The main aim of club is to develop students' skills in public speaking, analysis and rhetoric. Our club founded in 1997 and is a large family among students of the best speakers and debaters.

OUR ACTIVITIES:

  • To improve abilities of students such as research skills and public speaking
  • Develop logical thinking;
  • Help to correctly convey ideas;
  • Improve persuasion and presentation.

UN Model Club

UN Model Club was founded in 2016. The main purpose of the club is to bring together students who are interested in political science, international relations and social sciences. The activity of the club is based on principles of the United Nations, inter-country dialogue, UN resolutions and etc. The club helps students to gain knowledge about the UN. The club regularly hosts UN Model conferences, where students represent one UN country.

 

Music Club

OUR AIM:

The Music Club is a huge contribution to the diverse life on the University. We bring together those students who enjoy music. The club helps students to grow the musical talent and relieve stress with musical activities.

OUR ACTIVITIES:

  • Organize seminars and rehearsals to develop members' musical skills;
  • Hold concert programs on special days and other student social activities;
  • Hold song competitions within the University;
  • Prepare students in order to represent the university in national competitions;
  • Maintain chorus association inside the club.

Classes are held on Monday and Thursday at 14:00 in the assembly hall. If you are interested in music you can join to us.

      

Dance Club

OUR AIM:

Dance Club is one of the largest student performing arts clubs. Dance club helps to bring together students of our university who are interested in national, foreign and other dances. Our Dance Classes designed for beginners and those who have an understanding of dance.

OUR ACTIVITIES:

  • Conducting individual and group classes;
  • To represent our club at local and foreign events and to take an interest in the events held;
  • The club offers classes in a variety of styles, focusing mostly on national, hip-hop and modernity.

Intellectual Games Club

OUR AIM:

Western Caspian University Intellectual Club is intended to develop students’ cognitive skills and brain power, as well as to spend efficient time through different general knowledge-based games. Our club encourage students to exchange their knowledge.

OUR ACTIVITIES:

  • We conduct different types of intellectual competitions such as “What? Where? When?”, “Brain Ring”, “Search-Find” and in other formats;
  • Our club awards winners with certificates or small prizes;
  • There is an opportunity for all students to organize its own intellectual game;
  • We create teams for national competitions and support them.

Book Club

OUR AIM

Book club of our university was created for students who are interested in fiction, love to read books and spend their free time effectively. The aim of book club is was to awaken a love of literature and a positive attitude towards reading.

OUR ACTIVITIES:

  • Help our students to be more educated;
  • Introduce literature to students from different perspectives;
  • Develop thinking ability and self-confidence.

Robotics Club

OUR AIM:

The Robotics Club operates at the Western Caspian University Technopark. The purpose of our club is to further student education by developing skills in technology and engineering outside classes.  Currently, the club has 9 students and 40 members.

OUR ACTIVITIES:

  • Educated members conduct training and workshops for students and pupils;
  • 1-3-day robotics training is regularly held in regions, taking into account the pupils in the region;
  • Members can do experiments with robotics, mechatronics and electronics;
  • Contests may be organized by the initiative of students.

Membership:

Any student in schools and Western Caspian University can register online and become a member of the Robotics Club. They can regularly come to the club at the Western Caspian University Technopark.

 

Conversation Club

OUR AIM:

Western Caspian University offers English Conversation Club to its students. This program is intended for all students (local and international) of the University and students can enhance their speaking skills in English through our club.

OUR ACTIVITIES:

  • We provide interactive conversations with various interesting topics in each week;
  • We create a convenient environment for students to be socially active;
  • There is an opportunity for local and international students in the club that they can share their cultural and national values to each other.

Groups are divided according to students` English language levels and run by experienced volunteer students. Classes are held once a week, a day specified by instructors.

The Stage Club

This club is dedicated to Bachelor students. They can take a part in this competition as a participant or they can participate as a part of the audience. It is a competition in which students can actively participate, show their strengths, open up to the world and share their ideas and thoughts with others. Students will learn how to speak publically, and thereby also improve their language skills (both in Azerbaijani and in English).

Typically there are 3 to 4 students per event. Each of them will speak about a topic that may concern many people, and explain why this topic is relevant or why it may be important for the future. The topic can be chosen from any field that is important to the presenter, and gives opportunity to share ideas. Each speaker has 10-15 minutes. There are three judges. These judges will discuss the speeches, and they may ask questions after each speech. At the end of every event, both the audience and the judges will select the winner. Winners advance to another round of competition. The Stage Club will take place every first Saturday of the month at 09:30 at the Western Caspian University, Ahmad Rajabli Street 17A (third parallel).

BioClub

The BioClub incorporates students' interest in biology and environment. The aim of the club is to provide information about biology, to better equip students in doing laboratory experiments, and to encourage students to periodically organize outside workshops and presentations. Biological knowledge can turn out to be a must in everyday life. Changes resulting from environmental impacts and many methods of protection against disease are often hidden.

What is the benefit of the BioClub?

  • Development of research skills;
  • Development of practical skills;
  • Encourage independent thought and activity;
  • Exchange of knowledge through workshops and presentations;
  • Exposure to new trends in medical and biological research.

 

Business Club

OUR AIM:

Western Caspian University Business Club invites business-minded students from all faculties to participate in a professional environment. The main purpose of the club is to teach students to integrate into socio-political and business activities, to form high thinking and analytical skills in business, and to critically evaluate events from a variety of perspectives.

OUR ACTIVITIES:

  • Promote public-political and business education programs;
  • Conduct training for students to form public-political judgment, analyze skills;
  • Hold competitions for students to apply their knowledge and experience;
  • Network club members with national and international political institutions;
  • Represent Western Caspian University in national and international projects;
  • Publish methodological materials on the topics covered and the results of the work done.

Tourism Club

OUR AIM:

The Tourism Club serves as a social vehicle for students who are interested in the travel and tourism sector. Furthermore, our club provides a good basis for students to connect with the ecosystem. The club is open to all Western Caspian University students.

OUR ACTIVITIES:

  • The club goes on a number of visits within the country;
  • Organizing a meeting of students with tourism professionals;
  • Involving students in organizing tours and teaching them basic skills.

Note: The regions to be visited are selected according to the interests of the students who are members of the club, taking into account the tourism resources.

"The Student Times" Students' Newspaper

“The Student Times” is a monthly newspaper set up by the students of Western Caspian University in the Azerbaijani and English languages. The first edition of the newspaper was published on 26 May, 2016. Publications serve as a platform for students in order to express thoughts and concerns.

Our publications:

  • report news about the University;
  • publish opinions and suggestions of students and faculty;
  • advertise student activities in the University clubs and sport teams;
  • announce University events such as concerts, dances;
  • publish interviews with students;
  • report awards won by the University, a student, or a teacher;
  • publish articles in different topics
