WCU Teachers and Students Conduct Joint Research with Latvian Scientists
The teachers of the Department of Natural Sciences of the Western Caspian University, PhD in Biology Mahmud Humbatov and Konul Ahmadova joined on a scientific expedition in Astara region with the participation of IV-year bachelor's and II-year master's students studying "Water bioresources and aquaculture" of the School of High Technologies and Innovative Engineering. During the expedition, hydrobiological samples of malacostracan crustaceans (Crustacea, Amphipoda) fauna were collected from the coastal zone of the Caspian Sea.
The Western Caspian University's Hydrobiology Laboratory will identify the species found in the samples that were gathered.
Notably, the fauna of malacostracan crustaceans found along the southern coasts of the Azerbaijani part of the Caspian Sea is studied together with the employees of the Laboratory of Evolutionary Ecology of Hydrobionts of Latvia’s Nature Research Centre.
