On 20-23rd February 2016 Fairmont hotel hosted Azerbaijan`s First National Model UN Conference – Mil
As part of the conference the following topics weredebated at the MUN Conference:
- UN General Assembly(UN GA) – "Strengthening of the UN system and reform of its main institutions”
- UN Security Council(UN SC) –"The Karabakh conflict”
- UNESCO – "Protecting historical sites and cultural heritage from strikes during wars and terrorist attacks”
- UNHCR – "Developing durable solutions to challenges of refugee crisis”
- ITU – "Ensuring security of personal digital data.”
350 young peoplerepresenting more than 20 universities, academies and schools took part in the conference.
All MUN participants were required to pass a rigorous processof screening as well asinterviews.
Withing the framework of MilliMUN nominations for"The Best Delegate", "The Best Position Document" and "The Best Debater" wereselected. The winners werepresented with certificates and giftsby the organizers.
The conference was organized within the"Creating new platforms to support active youth engagement in the global policy debates"project which was carried out in partnershipbetween the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and UNDP Azerbaijan.
Western University students passed the interview stage and were selected to participate in the conference as country representatives.Their input has been tremendous.
