Students' interest in "Perlego" online book platform is increasing

A survey was conducted among the users of the Scientific Library Center at Western Caspian University on the service activities. The main goal of the survey was to determine the use of library services by readers, as well as the quality of the library's work in serving readers, and to take the results obtained into account in the future development of the library.

The main goal of the survey was to obtain readers' opinions on the accessibility of library materials, a comfortable reading and working environment in the reading rooms, online textbooks and research resources with a wide range of topics, as well as how they would like to see the library in the future.

About 300 undergraduate and graduate students participated in the survey.

According to the survey, the Ahmed Rajabli corpus of the library dominates in terms of the number of users (75.6%). The Icherisheher corpus is in second place with 18.8% of the readers. A reading room has been newly opened in the Philology corpus therefore the number of users is 4.1%.

33.8% of respondents reported that they rarely use the library, and 10.2% reported that they do not use it at all. 22.6% of participants reported that they visit the library several times a month, 22.9% several times a week, and 8.6% reported that they visit the library every day, which indicates that they are regular readers of the library. This result shows that one of the next goals of the library is to attract readers who do not use the library at all to the library.

To the questions “What materials do you use the most in the library and what do you use?” and “Are you satisfied with the materials in the library?”, 35% of readers indicated that they use textbooks, 30.8% use computers, 53.4% are completely satisfied with the library collection, and 38.7% are partially satisfied.

Although most readers prefer digital formats in modern times, traditional printed publications also retain their relevance.

The university library provides students and faculty with access to and use of the “PERLEGO” platform, which includes more than 800,000 books and textbooks.

29.3% of participants stated that they use the platform and 16.5% stated that they are interested in the platform.
