he scientific article "Inter Simple Sequence Repeat (ISSR) based genetic and morphological polymorphism of Azerbaijani grape (Vitis vinifera) genotypes", co-authored by Madina Hamidova, a master's student in Genetics at Western Caspian University, was published in the Q2-rated journal "Genetic Resources and Crop Evolution", indexed in the international scientific database Scopus.
The article examines the genetic diversity based on ISSR markers and morphological characteristics among grape varieties of Azerbaijani origin and introduced varieties, as a result of research conducted with the participation of Madina Hamidova. During molecular analyses conducted on 21 grape genotypes, a total of 56 marker bands were identified using 10 ISSR primers, 44 of which were polymorphic. The research results showed the presence of high genetic similarity between some genotypes, which gave reason to assume that they are close relatives. The study revealed that the use of ISSR markers in combination with morphological and ampelographic data is an effective approach for assessing the genetic diversity of grape genotypes.
