Thor Heyerdahl Film Festival Opened
On May 12th at Western University the Thor Heyerdahl Film Festival was launched to commemorate the 100th Jubilee of prominent Norwegian ethnographer, experimental archaeologist, multi-disciplinarian and multi-culturalist, Thor Heyerdahl.
A roundtable discussion was held with Betty Blair Editor of Azerbaijan International, Ronnie Gallagher, Expert on Geology and Environmentalist, and Christopher D. Daatland, co-author and co-editor of the Heyerdahl book. It was devoted to Heyerdahl’s expeditions, research and legacy, as well as to his links with Azerbaijan.
The Thor Heyerdahl mini-exhibition room, which contains permanent exposition of rare photos, books, journals, and films about Heyerdahl’s expeditions was opened in the presence of the Ambassador of Norway to Azerbaijan, Mr. Erling Skjǿnsberg. The film "Kon-Tiki” that won Oscar for Best Documentary in 1951 was shown after an impressive and interesting presentation by Betty Blair.
