Academic Calendar

 

Western Caspian University operates on an academic calendar consisting of two equal semesters within one academic year. Each semester lasts for 15 teaching weeks (excluding exams) and is implemented according to the academic calendar by semester-based study plans.

Western Caspian University Academic Calendar for 2024–2025

The academic year at Western Caspian University consists of two equal semesters. Each semester includes a 15-week teaching period, followed by 3 weeks of colloquiums and a 5-week examination period.

The university suspends classes during national holidays and days of remembrance.

Autumn Semester (September 2024 – January 2025)

  • Deadline for course registration and changes: 10 September 2024.
  • Start of the semester: 15 September 2024 (Knowledge Day); classes begin on 16 September 2024 (according to the extended study schedule).
  • 15-week teaching period: 16 September – 29 December 2024.
  • Colloquium weeks: Three colloquium weeks are held during the semester:

First colloquium week: 14-20 October 2024

Second colloquium week: 18-24 November 2024

Third colloquium week: 9-15 December 2024

  • Examination period (5 weeks): 30 December 2024 – 1 February 2025.
  • End of autumn semester: Classes end at the end of December, the exam session finishes in early February.

Spring Semester (February 2025 – July 2025)

  • Deadline for individual study plan adjustments: 10 February 2025.
  • Start of the semester: 17 February 2025. Classes continue until 31 May 2025.
  • 15-week teaching period: 17 February – 31 May 2025.
  • Colloquium weeks: Three colloquium weeks are held during the semester:

First colloquium week: 10-16 March 2025

Second colloquium week: 14-20 April 2025

Third colloquium week: 19-25 May 2025

  • Examination period (5 weeks): 2 June – 5 July 2025.
  • End of spring semester: Classes end in late May, the exam session finishes by early July.

Summer Exams and Holidays

  • Summer break: Begins on 5 July 2025. All summer holidays take effect from this date.
  • Resit exams: Held in August after the summer exam period (exact dates will be announced in the official university calendar).
