Contract of the Century
“Contract of the Century” – Oil Agreement (1994)
Signed in 1994, the “Contract of the Century” laid the foundation for international cooperation in Azerbaijan’s oil sector and elevated the country’s energy diplomacy to a global level. The agreement established long-term production and investment commitments between the Republic of Azerbaijan and several foreign oil companies. It played a key role in regional economic and political development, as well as in strengthening strategic partnerships with Turkey and Western countries.
