Prof. THOR HEYERDAHL (1914-2002)

Norwegian adventurer and ethnographer with a background in zoology, botanics, and geography. He became notable for his Kon-Tiki expedition across the Pacific Ocean in a hand-built raft. Part of his life and work is connected with Azerbaijan. September 20, 1999 he was titled as an honorary professor of Western University.

 

Prof. RANDALL BAKER

An international expert on historical perspectives in the analysis of contemporary environmental policy and problems. He is also a Professor of New Bulgarian University in Sofia, Bulgaria and Professor Emeritus of Indiana University (USA). He was the director of the program on cooperation between Indiana University and Western University on the project of "Business Administration and Law". On March 12, 2002 he was titled as an honorary professor of Western University.
 

 

Prof. JOLANTA KWASNIEWSKA

Lawyer and charity activist. She was First Lady of Poland between 1995 and 2005. In 1997 she founded the charity foundation named “Porozumienie bez barier” ("Understanding Without Barriers"), aims of which include providing help and support to sick and disabled children. On September 18, 2009, she was titled as an honorary professor of Western University.
 

 

Prof. EVA MARIA AUCH

Author of studies on the history, religion and politics of Eastern Europe. She is a founder of the Department of Azerbaijani Studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin, and since 2010 has been Head of the Department of History of Azerbaijan in the History Faculty at the same University. In 1999 she was titled as an honorary professor of Western University.
 

 

Prof. NORMAN GREGORY YOUNG (1949)

Member of several associations and societies for lawyers, including the American Lawyers Association (International Law Section), American Society of International Law. He is also a professor on international business law and coordinator of law faculty at California Polytechnic University, Pomona, since 1976. On December 29, 2003, he was titled as an honorary professor of Western University.
 

 

Prof. MARGHERITA BONIVER

Italian politician, she founded the Italian section of International Amnesty which she led from 1973 to 1980. She was a member of the Italian Chamber of Deputies and then of the Italian Senate. She also served as a Member of the European Parliament and twice as a minister: Italians Abroad and Tourism. In 2006 she was re-elected as a the Chamber of Deputies, representing the social-democratic wing of the Forza İtaly party. On May 26, 2005, she was titled as an honorary professor of Western University.
 

 

Prof. MESSOUD EFENDIYEV (1953)

Mathematician, professor living in Germany. He is the first Azerbaijani who got the Humboldt award. He is currently working as one of the leading scientists in Helmholtz Zentrum München (Institute of Computational Biology).

 

Prof. WALTER FUST (1945)

CEO/Director of the Global Humanitarian Forum in Geneva (Switzerland). chairman of UNESCOs International Program for Development and Communication (IPDC) and President of Globethics.net (global network of teachers and institutions). On January 22, 2010, he was titled as an honorary professor of Western University.


 

Prof. ANNE-MARIE LIZIN (1949-2015)

Belgian politician, who was elected as an Member of the European Parliament and served as the President of the Senate of Belgium from 2004 to 2007. On January 23, 2010, he was titled as an honorary professor of Western University.

 

Prof. VERNON G. STUART (1935-2009)

He was Vice President fot Auditing of the First Jersey National Bank in Jersey City for 22 years and then became the president of a financial company named “Old Bridge”. On April 27, 2001 he was titled as an honorary professor of Western University.

 

Prof. MICHAEL SUCCOW (1941)

German biologist and ecologist. His numerous publications are mostly devoted to the ecology of moorlands. His typology of moorlands is used todayas a standard classification strategy for moorlands. He founded the Michael Succow Foundation for the Protection of Nature which, for instance, helped Azerbaijan to create a national park programme with up to eight reserves.

 

Prof. FIKRET SADIKHOV (1945)

He has worked in senior positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Azerbaijan State Information Agency. He has been working at Western Caspian University since 1996 and currently is a Professor of International Relations. In March 2004, he was titled as an honorary professor of Western University.

 

Prof. AGHABABA RZAYEV (1923-2003)

Lawyer, professor, Deputy Minister of Justice of Azerbaijan SSR, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, held other senior positions and was elected deputy of Baku City Council of Peoples Deputies. Wide-ranging research work has been mainly associated with political and legal theories in Russia and Azerbaijan, and N. Tusis scientific meetings. On February 15, 2003, he was named an honorary professor at Western University.

 

Prof. GUDRAT ABDULSALIMZADEH (1933-2016)

He was a well-known scientist, professor, chairman of the funeral committee of the martyrs of January 20, 1990. He served as chairman of the State Property Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and then began his pedagogical activity. His research focuses on economic theory, international economical relations, and transitional economies. He is the author of more than 150 scientific works.


 

Prof. TADEUSZ ŚWIĘTOCHOWSKI (1934-2017)

Polish historian and Caucasologist. His fields of studies included the modern history of the Middle East and Azerbaijan. Swietochowski was acclaimed as the leading specialist on the modern history of Azerbaijan.

 

Prof. JABI BAHRAMOV (1959)

PhD in History, Deputy Director of Science at the Institute of History named after A.Bakikhanov of ANAS, teacher of the department of Political Science and International Relations at Western Caspian University. He is an author of more than 40 scientific papers. In 2009 he was titled as an honorary professor of Western University.

 

Prof. AHMAD OMID YAZDANI (1947)

He is the Master of Science at the University of Trier in Germany, Chairman of the Azerbaijani German Academic Association in Berlin and the author of several books about Azerbaijan and Iran. Since May 7, 1996 he is an Honorary Professor of Western University.

 

Prof. COLINE LOVE

Professor of The Nottingham Trent University, coordinator of European Union TACIS [Technical Assistance of the European Community to the CIS countries] in Azerbaijan.
