Western Caspian University Faculty Member Participates in Scientific Expedition

Western Caspian University faculty member, Konul Ahmadova, a lecturer at the Department of Natural Sciences, participated in a scientific expedition conducted in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic together with an international research team.

The expedition was carried out within the framework of the EVOCAMP Program and aimed to collect freshwater amphipod (side-swimming crustacean) specimens from various aquatic habitats across Nakhchivan.

During the field studies, samples were collected from rivers, springs, and qanats located in the districts of Shahbuz District, Julfa District, Ordubad District, and Sharur District.

The research is being conducted as part of the “Caucasian Freshwater Amphipods” international scientific project, which focuses on studying amphipod fauna inhabiting freshwater ecosystems throughout the Caucasus region. The project contributes to a better understanding of the biodiversity and ecological significance of freshwater amphipods in the region.
