Genetics and Molecular Biology Laboratory
Activities of the Genetics and Molecular Biology Laboratory of Western Caspian University
The Genetics and Molecular Biology Laboratory of Western Caspian University is a specialized structural unit established to conduct modern scientific research in the fields of molecular biology and genetics. The main goal of the laboratory is to carry out fundamental and applied research based on scientific and technological innovations, provide students and researchers with modern scientific methods, and promote collaboration between science and industry.
The research conducted in the fields of genetics and molecular biology is organized in accordance with current scientific priorities.
The laboratory is equipped with the following modern instruments and equipment for research:
· PCR machines – for DNA amplification and gene expression analysis;
· Gel electrophoresis system – for the separation and visualization of nucleic acids;
· NanoDrop spectrophotometer – for determining the quantity and quality of DNA, RNA, and protein samples;
· Microscopes (including fluorescence microscopes) – for visualizing cellular and molecular structures;
· Laminar flow cabinets, centrifuges, incubators, and refrigerators – for working in sterile environments, cultivating cells and microorganisms, and storing samples.
The laboratory also provides practical opportunities for students, master’s and PhD students in their educational and research activities, organizes scientific seminars and training sessions, participates in local and international scientific projects, and is involved in the commercialization and dissemination of scientific results.
