Sabina Manafova graduated from the Faculty of History at Baku State University. She undertook an internship in American Studies at Indiana University, USA, in 2001 and conducted training on the history and politics of Azerbaijan at the same university. She participated in an exchange program with Western University and Indiana University in 2004. In 2003, she undertook an internship at the U.S. Department of State as part of the International Leadership Program. Between 2005-2007, she participated in a faculty development program in the United States.
She is a member of the Azerbaijan Futurists and American Historians Associations. In February 2016, she was awarded the Progress Medal by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for her effective work in addressing gender issues and implementing social policies. From 2017 to 2019, she represented Azerbaijan in the Gender Equality Committee of the Council of Europe and in social issues at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
